Consulting is probably closer to 80-90k base with an 5-25% bonus, whereas IBD is close to 100-120k base and 25-75% bonus. 

Huge difference in comp and hours. IBD is typically 70-80 whereas M&A consulting is much closer to 60. Salary will grow much faster in IBD as well, but the burnout rate is much higher. 

M&A consulting can be valuable experience, but it can also be pretty meh, and it is a very vague term.
