IB Prospect Interning in ER
Hi, the title says it all. Because of certain limitations, I don’t have much choice but to intern in either ER or s&t.
How would this help getting a job in IB? Would I learn many different valuation/modeling used in IB?
Also, what would you tell a professional you’re trying to network with? Be honest that youre looking into get into IB or lie about wanting to become an research analyst?
.
Yes, I interned at a equity research firm and was able to lateral once I graduated over to an top IB group in the same sector. And I am a complete non-target. Just have your story on why you transitioned from ER to IB. ER I feel will be more applicable to IB and has more similar skill sets.
Thanks a lot! Really gives me hope. Do you think I should come clean with the guy I’m having a coffee chat with about wanting to go into IB?
If you’re talking to an IB professional, tell him you plan to make the jump to IB. Professionals understand it is difficult to break in. Say you took the ER job to learn, and how what you will learn in ER is applicable to thriving in IB.
thanks I’ll do that when I’m talking to an IB guyz
Although, I was talking about the guy im trying to ask pushing my resume. i guess i better make up some bs?
Don't tell the guy who you to give you a job that his firm/group whatever is just a stepping stone for you. No matter what you're applying to/interviewing for, make sure your they think you're a lifer.
