IBD: feeling isolated from the rest of society
This applies to any finance role really. I am joining a MSc in finance in September and looking to break into IB later.
My family don’t Know jack sh*t about what finance is nor why pursuing postgraduate education is important. Even my friends don’t get the importance of IB or consulting roles for the development of your futur career. This whole thing makes me feel isolated from most people, leading me to believe only a very few people know how the world really spins and making me feel intellectually isolated. I only hope that when I get into IB I can expand my network of knowledgeable individuals.
Oh no! You won’t get to see people slack their jaws when you tell them you work as an investment banker!
Who cares? Stop seeking validation from other people. You’ve literally warped your worldview and put yourself on a pedestal... based on something you haven’t even broken into, yet. Get over yourself.

OP isn’t even in IB nor has he worked a full time job. OP is doing a 6 month internship as a valuations analyst for RE firm what a clown.
(Nothing wrong with working in valuations for RE btw)
