How do you guys define the term "Indirect Reports" in the context of corporate/managerial functions?
Specifically, I've been asked how many direct and indirect reports I had while I was an investment banking associate. I'm certain I had zero direct reports because I was not officially the group's "manager".
However, would the Analysts in my group count as "indirect reports" since I had responsibility for managing them on specific projects and providing feedback performance during roundtable discussions?
Any opinions would be appreciated as investment banking doesn't lend itself to traditional corporate definitions very well...
