If you can get an IBD internship in Seoul, that would be great and definitely go for it. Not knowing your background, I personally think it's easier to cold-email to get an internship at a boutique shop in the US... which by the way is still pretty good. If you don't have a lot of finance-related internship, I would definitely avoid study abroad.

Im a student in the U.S. (Born and always lived here). Does experience or prestige matter for a soph year internship? Ideally both is best but if you had to choose one or the other- what would you say?

The question needs to be more specific. If you are referring to a BO role at BB vs. modeling/valuation role at boutique, I would probably choose the latter. Having said that, it's pretty hard to find a quality sophomore internship, and even the ones you eventually find might not be as good as you hoped for. So practically, settling with the BO role might be a better option. I would say that keep searching hard until April.
