IBD Recruiting

Here's a random question --

About two weeks ago I received an email from a BB IBD Recruiting says that I had a first round interview with them. The peculiar thing is: 1 - I never applied to this BB for IB 2 - This BB's IBD does not recruit at my University 3 - I do not know anyone in at this BB in IBD 4 - Already accepted and offer at a different BB

Just wondering how they would come about getting my info to extending me an interview??

You'd be surprised how small Wall Street is. Had a similar situation - summered at BB, accepted offer, email from MD at another firm telling me he'd like to have me come in the following week. Had sent my resume to an analyst the year before and once they heard I was at BB for the summer, they were then interested. It really is shocking how small of a world it is once you get in...

Alumni contact maybe? Is there a prof that thinks youre the shit and maybe told a friend who works at this BB. Therefore, they pursued you and are interested in what you can offer. Maybe you could contact there HR department and ask them how you landed an interview when you never applied. But make sure you sound greatful for the interview at the same time. Then again, you already accepted an offer so I guess it doesnt matter much. Best of luck
