ICADE: E-3

Hi everyone,

I’m currently weighing my options for undergrad and I’ll likely be attending ICADE (Comillas) in Madrid for the E-3 program (Double Degree in Business and Law). My ultimate goal is Investment Banking in London.

I’d love to get some honest feedback from the WSO community on a few points:

1. Target Status: How is ICADE perceived by London recruiters for Summer Internships nowadays? I know it's the top school in Spain alongside ESADE and IE, but does it hold its own against continental targets like Bocconi or HSG during the CV screening phase for London offices?

2. Madrid-to-London Transfer: How realistic is it to start as an Analyst in a Bulge Bracket (GS/MS/JPM) or an Elite Boutique (Lazard/Rothschild) in Madrid and then do an internal transfer to London after 2 years? Do banks encourage this, or is it an uphill battle?

3. Alumni Network: I’ve heard about the "Spanish Mafia" in the City. For those currently in London IBD, how strong is the ICADE alumni presence? Are they generally supportive with networking and referrals?

4. The E-3 Factor: Does the 5-year duration of the double degree (Law + Business) put me at a disadvantage due to age, or is the added rigor seen as a plus in terms of work ethic?

I'm trying to decide if the ICADE brand is enough to get me there directly.

Thanks in advance for the insights!
