If I apply to IBD, can S&T alums help?
Sorry to post so much. I'm trying to sort out SA applications and fix resume etc.
I am applying to a BB that does not recruit at my school. There is only one alum who works there, but in S&T. I am applying for IBD. Will he get a chance to see my resume and decide my fate/vouch for me/ding me? I'm not sure how the whole process works...
He's a 3rd year analyst. Long story short, he dated a girl in my sorority, they had a very nasty breakup (think beer bottles thrown, cat fight with new girl friend, and his nose broken by a new boyfriend). I don't know what he would do, he might ding me. but hopefully he isnt that petty!
In that case - no he will most likely not see your resume or have a chance to ding you.

I dont think bankers want traders making any decisions on their behalf lol. But really there is no reason for someone in S&T to ever get a resume from banking.
EDIT: I just read your post again. I did you send the resume through him? That would obviously be different than if you had applied online or gone through a banking contact.
S&T guys are not going to "determine your fate" in general; S&T/IBD tend to stick to their own recruiting. And if he's only a 3rd year Analyst, he won't really have the power to do much of anything other than get you an initial interview or pass your resume to the right people.
If he has contacts in banking there, sure, go through him, but I'm not sure how helpful he'd be in this situation.
