If you don’t get promoted to Associate, and get fired, what to do?

I’m a second year analyst on a team that is very overweight Associates. I believe I am performing well, with promotions next July. However there is a significantly high chance I won’t get the bump given the amount of Associates on the team.

If this is the case, I presumably will be cut given my firms up or out culture.

What should I do now to prevent this, what should I do if I find myself in this situation come next July?
