Importance of MSc GPA in recruiting
Made a post a while back about how important MSc GPA is for recruiting. To summarise, got a first class honours at a UK target, non-oxbridge uk uni (lse, warwick, UCL). Also have about 1.5 yr experience in IBD in LDN at a 2nd tier balance sheet bank (nomura, hsbc, rbc etc)
Thought I wasn't doing that well in my operations research/finance related MSc at Columbia, but based on my current first term grades, I can get between a 3.7 and 3.9 for the term, depending on my grades from the last course to report. How would this fare in recruitment as I've heard some crazy cutoffs on here lol.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, your MSc GPA can play a significant role in recruitment, but its importance depends on the context of your application and the firms you're targeting. Here's a breakdown:

In summary, your projected GPA (3.7–3.9) is strong and should not hinder your recruitment prospects, especially when combined with your target school background and IBD experience. Focus on leveraging your network, refining your technical skills, and preparing for interviews to maximize your chances.
