Institutional Banking Salaries Australia

Hi all - I'm curious to see if anyone knows the approximate up to date salaries for the big 4 + macquarie in the Institutional banking space for Associate Directors and above?

Robert Walters data is suggesting that 2025 salaries are much lower to 2024 which I can somewhat believe, but hoping someone might have some anecdotes that they can share.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, the average compensation for Investment Banking roles in 2023 provides a useful benchmark. While specific data for Institutional Banking in Australia isn't explicitly detailed, here are the figures for Investment Banking roles that might offer some insight:

  • Director/MD: $592K
  • Vice President: $392K
  • Associates: $260K

For Associate Directors and above in Institutional Banking, salaries might align closely with these figures, though variations could occur depending on the bank and specific role. Macquarie, for instance, has been noted for paying above the street in some cases, which could influence their compensation structure.

If Robert Walters data suggests a decline in 2025, it might reflect broader market trends or specific adjustments within the Australian banking sector. For more precise anecdotes, engaging directly with professionals in the space or consulting updated salary reports might provide clarity.
