Intercontinental Networking

If my goal is an internship in NYC, how helpful will bankers in Chicago/SF/Hong Kong/London be in the recruiting process? I mean when networking, should I stick to those who work in the city that I want to work in or can those who work in other cities/countries forward my resume and help me get an interview?

Hmm... where are you located? I can give you the location of a well-known bed and breakfast where bankers from around the world meet for a famous shiatsu massage and have the intercontinental breakfast there.

re Hong Kong. Unless the MD you work with is temporarily based overseas and whose home office is in New York, it's pretty non-efficient. You'd have to get someone from Hong Kong to refer you to someone they know overseas. Most seniors are either too busy or too lazy to go bat for someone like that unless you really impress them,
