Interesting Situation: Equity Sales to IBD
So a friend of mine has an off-cycle internship (winter/spring) within the Institutional Equity Sales division of a top BB (MS, JP, CS) and has an opportunity to intern with Goldman Sachs IBD as an SA for 2012. She is a Junior in college.
I know they are they are essentially 2 totally different jobs, although both being considered "front office". Even though they are both name brand internships, she is worried about burning bridges at her current workplace.
Thoughts, comments, advice?
FYI: I told her to jump ship and go to Goldman. But that's just me. I'm a prestige whore.
If she gets an offer from internship one, sign it. If she gets an offer from GS, AND WANTS TO DO IBD, sign GS and renege on offer #1. No biggie.
