so i'm currently about to finish my first year in S&T at a BB, and have been trying to lateral to IBD. Friends in a bunch of groups have agreed to forward my resume to their staffers, but my worry is once my resume starts circulating and someone decides to interview me, my group could get notified by HR? could i get fired for this?
has anyone had experience with internal transfers/lateraling and how to juggle the internal politics that comes with internal transfers? I would guess my manager (who's an associate) would be supportive, but the higher ups might be against it because i am the only analyst in my group, so I am not sure if it is worth the risk to tell my friends to circulate my resume in their group...would it be a better idea to secure an offer externally and then use that as leverage to make the switch internally? any feedback would help, because I'm nearing the end of my first year and want to make the switch ASAP...thanks,,
