Interns asking for FT during interview

I really hate when I interview potential interns and the very first question they ask is “ will you give me a FT offer by the end of internship, I just don’t want to waste time and not get a job after this”

I received different variations of this and I’m butthurt.

Like dude, you haven’t even been hired, wtf is this shit?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's clear that many professionals share your sentiment about this approach. Asking about a full-time offer during an internship interview can come across as presumptuous and self-serving, especially when the candidate hasn't yet demonstrated their value or even secured the internship.

The general advice for candidates is to focus on showcasing their skills, enthusiasm, and fit for the role during the interview. Questions about full-time offers are better reserved for later stages, once they've proven themselves during the internship or when the topic is naturally brought up by the employer.

For interviewers, it might help to redirect such questions by emphasizing the importance of performance during the internship and how it could lead to future opportunities. This approach keeps the conversation professional while setting clear expectations.

I'm calling cap. 100% certain that's what they meant and that you misunderstood.

You also absolutely reworded what they said to make it sound more egregious in your post. No one said "I just don’t want to waste time and not get a job after this" so why add the quotation marks?

Sounds like you need to brush up on some social skills.
