Interns Logging Overtime
Looking to gauge thoughts on this. Currently 1 of 6 interns on the floor. We are OT eligible and obviously work lots of overtime, but I find it a bit odd to be paid the amount we would be receiving if we logged the OT we actually worked. (x1.5 hourly wage which is already handsome)
I heard from one intern they are going to log their hours, others saying they will not, I am not logging mine at the moment because I do not want to be seen as greedy.
Anyone have thoughts on this or past experiences of an intern jeopardizing their FT offer? Doesn’t this take $ away from MDs?
Log them, its a drop in the bucket
Is this Wells? If Wells, and you're actually working, just log it.
Not Wells, it’s a BB
I just assumed because I've only heard of Wells offering OT. Didn't know BBs did unless required by law. If you're actually working, then don't sweat it.
Bro log it if you're actually working OT. Only becomes an issue if you're OT numbers don't make sense.
Well we get the old HR speech about being able to come in and leave at the typical 9-5 but obviously none of us are able to fulfill job requirements within those hours and it’s basically an unwritten rule to work from 8am-7:30pm which is even more relaxed than lots of IB groups from what I understand which is why I’m hesitant to log the hours.
Don't sweat it, they literally offer OT to entice you to come, you should use it and I'm sure if you tell this to your manager/any superior, they will laugh and definitely say submit it. You're basically cucking yourself if not, everyone knows interns are a cost so it's fine.
You think an MD is going to care about your 1.5x 3-4 hours per day? That's what, like an extra $200? With a bank doing +$30bn revenue potentially?
An fyi, HR once told me it costs few $k on average to actually find/hire an intern, so it's a drop in a bucket.
you should definitely log your hours, and get paid what you’re owed.
interned twice at a BB that offered overtime, and there was never an issue regarding that. just make sure you’re logging in hours you were actually working (i.e turning commenta for a deck, etc … i mean something that you can prove if you are ever asked to justify. for what i know, end of internship case studies were not allowed to be logged in).
hope this helps!
100% log your hours.
Log everything
Log your hours no matter what. They need to know how much you guys are doing but more importantly they don’t want to break the law…
If it’s MS I’m assuming, log it.
WF MS UBS
none of the above
WF MS UBS
Last year I was going crazy when I found out my friend at WF raked in like 40k over the summer lol

one of the first things my ft-colleagues taught me was to never sleep on the benefits. No one will thank you for not using what you have the right to use
Always log it. It's actually illegal not to and potentially jeopardizes the bank.
They do not give a crap at a BB about you logging 80+ hours. They will seriously only question it if you're logging 100-120 hours
Uhhhh what? You don’t want to get paid for the work you do? Wtf
Log it lmao…. Why would you work for free
Follow the law and log all your hours. If they don’t want you taking OT then they shouldn’t have a policy that allows for it. Don’t choose to not be paid when the company policy is to pay you
Worried about being greedy? For fuck’s sake, greed is what keeps the machine going. Log your OT!
