Internship Advice please

Hey guys, I'm at a target school for banking and I wanted to get your advice on internships. From what I hear from seniors, full time recruiting for front office positions is pretty bleak unless you've done the analyst program junior year summer. I'm currently a sophomore working at a small VC firm, and I want to get a boutique banking internship in the summer so I have a shot at getting a summer gig in junior year. Whats the best way to find an internship at a boutique firm? Also I'm going to Shanghai next semester, and was wondering if its worth trying to find a banking internship there (unpaid is fine too).

let me guess, you go to NYU?

"Look, you're my best friend, so don't take this the wrong way. In twenty years, if you're still livin' here, comin' over to my house to watch the Patriots games, still workin' construction, I'll fuckin' kill you. That's not a threat, that's a fact.
