Internship Focus

I am looking for advice regarding internship experience.

Currently, I am at a very small boutique IB where the summer is prettly lax. I have about 1 month left, and I would like to steer the experience towards something meaningful for next year's recruiting. (would like to add some strong bullets to the resume)

Any advice on which direction I should try to take this? Right now, I have been doing some very specific industry research - but have had very little exposure to modeling etc. I do not even know who the pitches are going out to.

What should I focus on for the rest of summer?

Thanks all.

care to elaborate? I am pretty inexperienced in this side of the industry, so it is difficult to spark those questions. and I have been trying, but most questions for all of us tend to come from work/projects that we are on. I think that more interesting work would lead to more intelligent questions, and so on.

and fwiw, a full-time offer is not on the table. I am always professional, but to be honest, I my concern is not to make a good impression, but to use this as a resource.

What would you try learn? what would you ask?

If you let us know what you are specifically involved with it would be easier for us to help you out or just point you in the right direction. What do you mean by more meaningful? What are you hoping to gain from this experience?

Bep,

This internship is the summer right before starting a ft MBA

My goal is to become a strong candidate for OCR for next summer when I am a FT student - hopefully to help ease the transition to becoming summer associate.

Ideally I am looking to mimick as closely as possible, some of the experience I would have gotten as a summer analyst at a BB as an undergrad (which I obviously do not have)

I will not get live deal experience, so I am looking for the next best thing....so someone could say "oh well at least he has done xyz before"

Ask your boss on what advice he can give you to break into a BB. Have your reasons for wanting to join a BB clear, training..culture..work experience...bsbsbs

Also ask your boss what you can do during this last month to polish your skillset that would make you more marketable to those big firms

Be gentle with this one, ask if he has any contacts in the industry you can talk to to seek their advice

If you did a good job, and your boss isn't a dick, he should be willing to help you out.

Good luck
