Internship in smaller cities

Hello everyone,

I'm not going to bore you with my story. The fact is that I was way too late to apply for summer analyst positions (internships) at most BBs.

However.. there seem to be some positions, perhaps not as exciting, called off-cycle analyst positions. Basically internships. Some of them even during the summer.

So, some of the programs I'm looking for are in cities like Madrid and Stockholm. What I'm wondering is, does it do me good to get an internships at these places? I'm from a small European country myself, going for an MFin next fall, got into some good ones. What I want to know is: Will Morgan Stanley laugh thir ass off when I apply in London after graduation, having done an internship in Stockholm? Or will it benefit me?

TLDR version: Is it beneficial to get an internship at a BB in a smaller/non finance city?

Thanks a lot!

I mean... what is your alternative?

Securing an internship and showing work experience on a resume is extremely preferable to the alternative.

MM IB -> Corporate Development -> Strategic Finance

Thanks for responses. Yeah the alternative is just trying to get some experience in my own country, which has no major international banks. So I guess my question would also be: Which is better: Being at a world-class bank in a smaller country.. or being at a bank which would be considered very big in my own country, but not internationally.

Basically.. am I doing myself a DISSERVICE by joining a great institution's smaller office in the middle of nowhere?
