In most cases, it's a filtering question to work out whether the candidate knows more than "investment banking = models + bottles + what i saw on that Wall St movie".
If you give a dumb arse answer, likely a ding.
If you spend more than 30 seconds answering this sort of question, likely a ding.
It depends on the firm you are speaking with as some firms only do certain types of deals. Best to go broad about IBD and then narrow on what that firm does and name specific deals they did.

Hello All,
I think it is a poorly worded definition. I would say that i-banking is mostly about the process of bringing securities to the market and advising clients on various business matters, I think the managing property they are talking about is in reference to advisory work with the companies in helping them manage their property, not portfolio management from a mutual fund or hedge fund perspective.
