Interviewing to work in India for Copal Partners?! Am I crazy?

Hey guys,

I am interviewing next week to be outsourced to Gugaron, India to support BB operations for a summer internship in investment banking. The firm I will be interviewing with is Copal Partners. They are an aggressively growing firm in India's KPO sector. Their website indicates that they do complicated, value-added analysis and not just pie-chart formatting and what not. They provide $2500 USD/month, housing, and transportation.

Does this sound like a good opportunity to use for FT recruiting? I'm not very sure because many people may misinterpret this as back office operations (which is true). I want to transfer to a BB after this summer stint for sure.

You would definitely acquire many of the skills you use in I-banking (modeling, comps, pitchbooks, etc). People at Copal Partners do the same work that you would do at an I-bank. The only difference is that they do it for other I-banks and do not deal directly with industry clients. If you go into FT recruiting with the ability to say that you modeled and became well versed in financial analysis and valuation, firms will honor that. Additionally, the international experience in India will be a talking point that I am sure will make you stand out.

Hope this helps.
