investment banking is ez

When I think about it, IB doesn’t actually seem that hard. Do people mainly complain because of the hours? I have always been able to get by on like 5.5/6 hours of sleep a night and I don’t really have friends to really cancel on. As long as I have 1 day a week to recoup I could probably just sleep and work for the rest 6 days?

The work itself isn’t hard, it’s rearranging logos and creating basic models with numbers that dont mean much. It’s the multiple projects at once, the 80-100 constant work weeks and constant stress and anxiety of that next staffing email or that random ping at 12am just when you think you are done with more work that needs to be done (when it could actually wait till tomorrow). The working on holidays when everyone else is unplugged and enjoying time with friends and family. Having to manage outside relationships to that keep you sane while thinking about that VP who wants you to change everything for no logical reason other than to impress an MD who doesn’t care about said VP.

You’ll see when and if you get there for yourself, gotta just experience the trauma to truly understand.

Joining FT soon, having super cold feet. Making me kinda scared. Do you think it’s manageable? How often do you have nights later than 1am, I think I can regularly go to that point.

If you told your team that you were signing off for the night and weren’t expecting any work you should be okay, but if you knew comments were inbound then it’s your fault
