Besides doing SHL practice tests for these, anyone else know what I can do to practice? Are the SHL sample test more or less difficult relative to the actual test?

Oh, and what is the pass mark for the numerical reasoning test?
I have quite a lot of experience with SHL tests and have taken the Bar Cap one. Are you applying to London ? Anyhow. At this point I have no problem with SHL tests at all but this is becouse I ahve taken so many (and failed so many). I woudl advise you to just practice as crazy, ti certainly helps. When I was doing the tests, I eventually did so many that I started seeing repeating tests for different applications and I would already know the answers by heart.I also had a special set of Python functions that I used to tackle the most commonly occuring problems on the SHL. So yeah, if yoiu really put your mind to it and practice like crazy you will ace it. Also, have in mind those tests become very predictive once you take 20 of them (real ones). Just like the SAT... ;) And to answer your question. I would say that the actual tests are not more difficult than the practice ones...

Would you explain how you proceed to answer the questions in numerical tests? Do you try to understand the charts first or do you read the question directly? Did you develop techniques with time?
Read the question first. Then attack the chart/charts. The reason is, there may be extra charts that you don't actually need to use. So if you addressed them first, you might waste a lot of valuable time on them if there are no actual questions on them.

I have been invited for a final round interview at HW and have been informed that I will be required to sit a short numerical test.
Will this test be similar to the ones I have taken at other Banks, or is it one that is particular to HW? My undergrad was massively quantitative, so I'm not fearing it, but would nonetheless appreciate any comments on its content.
HW Numerical Test:
What percentage of an MD's time is spent on analyst career development (i.e. going to bat for) at HW vs. other banks? - 83% against 2%
When does a HW MD go to bat for his analyst?
An MD walks across the street. Why did he do it? - So he can go to bat for an analyst.
Okay those weren't super numerical, sue me. I'll get an HW MD to go to bat for me.

to be honest, if you are having trouble passing the numerical tests you probably need to start thinking about a new career direction.
