Investment Banking programs for Veterans

Hi Guys,

I'm currently a Sophomore at a non - target, decent GPA (3.5) and am looking at some of the early insight programs for veterans. I know about the big names (JP Morgan, Goldman, Citi, Wells Fargo, ect.) I was wondering if anyone knew about smaller firms that do similar programs? Or if you have any advice about which would be most beneficial.

Thanks,

I didn't have any luck with the vets programs other than GS but I was an officer first and now I'm a first-year non-target MBA so very different. A friend who was enlisted then went to undergrad had a much better experience and now works in S&T at a BB so I think as long as you have a good "why IB?" story it should help you out. Not bank specific but look into ACP(American Corporate Partners) if you haven't. They match you with a mentor for a year and mine was immensely helpful in networking and eventually getting an analyst job at my first bank. Networking from a non-target is the toughest thing so in addition to the vets programs just LinkedIn search other vets in groups you're interested in.

To actually answer your question, I've heard from two friends that the JPM one is the best because it's like a two-year rotational thing so you could conceivably do other jobs or same job in different groups. GS one was bad this past year. It was just a virtual one week thing and got no value out of it. That being said, it's only a week so still apply and hopefully you'll have a better experience.

Hey i'm also a veteran in a similar situation. I spoke to someone at Moelis who recommended their veterans program: https://moelis-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/22115…. Although its not an actual internship, the guy that I spoke with said that its a great networking opportunity and that a few people that attended the pilot program this past winter were accepted for traditional summer internships. Applications closed previously in November so i'd check the link in the PDF sometime summer/early fall to see if they post more information about the 2022 program.
