Is banking just made up of people with trash personalities or is it just my group?

Seems like the majority of people in my group (VP and up) seem to just be super angry or just generally not nice people. It's a common saying amongst juniors in my group that a lot of the people in our group suck to work with. For context, I'm in FIG at a BB. Are there any IB groups with normal people or is this just a banking thing?

It's not the group, it's about perspective. If you do not share some characteristics with others you may see them as trash meanwhile they may see you as trash for not sharing their characteristics. Everything is relative. Be grateful to be in a office with a variety of personalities and not Matrix clones.

Groups are not bad as a GROUP, but there are usually two or three obnoxious people in most group that should not be there. I am a former FIG guy, and at my group, felt that there were 2/3 incompetent dead weights, who were bad in other aspects too. Switched over to the TMT side after 2 years, and felt the culture was miles different. Not even a single dickhead there.

Maybe it's a FIG thing. Funny social experiment / observation I had with my colleagues back at one of my old banks is to compare the cleanliness of the toilets across the floor, as we thought this might reflect how stressed people are (i.e. people stop caring about where they are aiming when they are super stressed, it's 3am, and there's 20 slides left). Turns out that coverage groups with more chilled culture have ok toilets, but FIG ones? Absolutely disgusting, shit-stains everywhere and piss all over the floor. I don't know exactly what about FIG makes it a team with tough culture but at least based on what I hear, it's a common theme XD
