Is Culture Vastly Different between Canadian Big 5 Banks and Bulge Bracket?

Moving from a C5 to a BB and was warned by my MDs/Group Heads that culture would be much more cut-throat and competitive at the BB than what I was experiencing at the Big 5.

Is there any truth to this? Have you guys had any similar experiences in terms of career moves?

Are you in Canada or the US?

I moved from a Canadian big 5 (nyc based) to an American BB (nyc) and was warned by a seniors that it was going to be more cut throat, no one would know my name and I’d be another cog in a wheel, that I’d be paid less, never get to attend meetings and that my wlb would be worse.

Every single thing they said turned out to be false for me and all my peers who made the same move. I would 100% do it again. Can’t speak for the big 5 in Canada.
