Is Executive Director the new VP at GS?

I’ve noticed several people (London) in my network at GS getting promoted from Associate straight to Executive Director in the IB division (just to be clear I mean coverage team covering m&a, ecm, dcm...)

Has ED basically replaced the old VP title in IBD? Or the people who get this promotion are really that strong?

I’ve seen it happen 3 times in the last 12 months (in each case smart boys / girl tbh)
