Is IB the right career path for people?

So I am an first year UG student in a target school in London and one of the most famous and searched jobs is IB and I see why: great money, great future opportunities and a certain prestige. But as more and more I deepen my knowledge in this field I only see comments of people who hate their job, their life and want to go away from it as soon as possible and I also understand why. I was wondering, it is actually a job/career path that you would recommend an UG to choose rather than other Finance’s jobs which are not as famous and as profitable but are actually enjoyable

Most of the people I know in the industry enjoy their work in IB, myself included. Like any job there are tedious moments and it is hard work but I am here because the classes I most enjoyed at college were finance related and I can't see myself doing anything else.

You need to understand that two of the main groups of people who post here are UG students and career changers/people looking to move jobs. Obviously UG students don't have first hand experience in the industry and tend to repeat and emphasize outrageous second hand anecdotes and myths (i.e. psychopathic MDs, 120+ weeks, sweatshops etc). Most of the career changers are looking to move from their current position where they are not happy and also post with a negative bias. People who are happy in IB for the most part don't post here as they have no reason too.

You should be spending your first year at university trying to find what you are really passionate about. There is big money to be made in almost any field if you are the best at what you do.
