Is it normal to feel like an idiot during training?
Hello all,
I've been training with my analyst class for about three weeks now and I just feel as if everything is bouncing right off my face and I feel like an idiot compared to everyone else. I did well in college and grinded for this career path but it feels like nothing is sticking. Does it get better when you hit the desk? Is the training really reflective of the day-to-day? or I am just overthinking this. I want to be able to perform.
It's okay. You will feel like an idiot at the beginning, then you will experience a very steep learning curve where you will feel amazed, and once you're past that, you will feel like an idiot again wondering what you are doing with your life.
Enjoy the ride.
Nobody in your class will retain much from the training. Give yourself 3-6 months on the desk before you start worrying.
yeah, particularly if you’re from an ivy league and never had to learn any actual finance to get your finance job
