Is it too early?

Hello, I'm going into my Freshmen year in College and know for sure that the Banking industry is where I'd like to be. I understand that like most Schools, you can only participate in IB or VC Internships until your junior year. However, Is it ever too early to start looking and preparing for the rigor of getting an internship and smashing the interview? Should I be reading up on IBanking or emailing analyst at local IBanks? just curious. Also, if you could tell me when you began looking for Internships. That would be great. Thank you

It never hurts to learn about the industry, but you need to focus on your grades right now. Browse WSO a little to get a feel for finance, maybe pick up "A Look Behind the Wall" and read that. Other than that, get involved on campus, keep your GPA high (get a 4.0 this year and you've got some room to screw up), and don't forget to have fun too. I guess if you really wanted you could learn how to model or something (macabacus.com)

Come summer, an internship is possible I'm sure, but most likely unpaid/part-time at a smaller firm.
