Is It usefull to do a 1-2 week internship at capgemini?

Hello, I am 17 years old, I am looking to do investment banking in the future. I was looking at possible internships to do before going to university, just to boost my CV a bit. Does anyone know if Capgemini is a good company to do an internship? It would be a 1-2 week internship in the finance department. If so do investment banks like that, or should I look at internships that are more related to IB? (I have not seen any, that offer for  17 year olds).

A 1-2 week internship at Capgemini, especially in the finance department, can still be a valuable experience for your CV, even if it's not directly related to investment banking. Based on the most helpful WSO content, here’s why:

  1. Demonstrates Initiative: At 17, any professional experience shows that you’re proactive and serious about building your career. Investment banks value candidates who take the initiative to gain exposure to the corporate world early on.

  2. Transferable Skills: Even if the internship isn’t directly in investment banking, you’ll likely develop skills like financial analysis, teamwork, and problem-solving, which are highly relevant to IB roles.

  3. Networking Opportunity: Capgemini is a reputable company, and you might meet professionals who can provide guidance or connections for future opportunities.

  4. Limited Options for 17-Year-Olds: As you mentioned, internships directly related to IB for someone your age are rare. Programs like spring weeks or A-level initiatives at banks are more common in the UK, but they’re still competitive. If you can’t find IB-specific opportunities, this internship is a good alternative.

That said, if you can find any programs or internships more closely aligned with investment banking (e.g., spring weeks, finance-related workshops, or even shadowing opportunities at smaller firms), those would be more directly beneficial. But don’t underestimate the value of gaining any professional experience at this stage—it all adds up!
