Is it worth applying?

I am in my second year at a non target in UK doing a STEM subject. Some parts of the course are going extremely well but others are going really really bad (everything is compulsory). This problem should be rectified next year as we choose our options.
If anything short of a miracle happens, I will miss a 2:1 this year by a lot.
I intend to start networking with high school alumni ASAP to get them to refer me or give me something for next year.
The fact my uni grades are so bad, is it worth applying? Banks ask for a minimum of 2:1 and coming from what I have heard they do check.
I could spin it and say that the modules I want to do next year I have done exceptionally well in and should get a solid first. My spread of marks this year is around 80%. It is just 2 out of 6 modules letting me down badly.
Should I tell my contacts when I go to seem them?
Any advice? (By the way I dont need advice about working more hard etc..., I really worked hard this year but some parts were not for me. I have been on a very long and hard personal journey over the last 1.5- 2 years and many things have not gone my way and it has been/is a long struggle. It is hard but if I compare myself now to who I was back then and the person I have become over the whole period, I have grown so much and become a more stronger and better person. I would not have it any other way, I am grateful for where I am and if it means I have to fail to become a better person then so be it.)
