Is it worth sacrificing self-development?
Much of the recruiting process these days is basically contingent on students putting aside their personal life for years to place well. Whether that be grinding in high school to get into a good college, spending all of freshman year recruiting for campus clubs, or essentially not attending university in sophomore year for recruiting/coffee chats, etc. etc. Is all of that worth it? How many of these kids are going into a mind-numbing career without even the most basic vestiges of a personality?
