Is Socializing a Skill

How do you be a good speaker? I’ve seen bankers who talk with such confidence and conviction, it’s inspiring.

My brother and I were awkward growing up. Our dad had anger issues and would always find reasons to be. I felt like we were a vent of his frustration. In effect, my brother and I became docile introverts who kept to ourselves.

I wanna do IB and this awkwardness should not linger, any advice?

How to influence friends and make friends. Read this book because it will teach you many lessons that will benefit you. I have always been an introvert, always been scared talking to people. I didn't really any friends either until I started talking to people. If you were wondering, I was a scared person who was worried about talking to people. Yes, socializing is a skill but you have to practice socializing to improve on your socialization. It can be anything such a coffee meeting dinner, or a gathering. Practice, Practice, Practice :)

Hey, I also had a similar upbringing where I was beat up a lot which made me a bit nervous and shy with new people (not with friends). As I grew up and went to college, I still had some of those habits, the anxiety of talking to new people or in front of people was intense. The way I dealt with it is that I started doing what scared me, I started pushing myself to do these things such as speaking up lectures and introducing myself to new people. I started exercising everywhere, whether it was girls in the bar, people on buses, people in class, and anyone that looked open to conversation.

Internally I would telll myself stuff like you are good looking, you are interesting, you are xxx, and that there was no reason to be nervous. All of this practice paid off massively and Im extremely outgoing now and very good at socializing. The nerves are still there sometimes for presenting in big crowds and stuff, but thats mostly cause I didnt practice that much.

Be positive, be confident, and work at it would be my advice.
