Is the grass really greener?
I don't have any friends which currently work in the IB or Finance space who could give advice on my position. Started a job as a CF analyst at a boutique IB firm.
At first I was across multiple M&A transactions and a few venture deals however it is becoming increasingly apparent that there isn't the structure within the organization as promised during the initial interviews. Everyone I work with are extremely smart but core management is lacking direction.
I have been looking at other positions here and there at my level as a 1st or 2nd year Analyst but now that I am deployed fully in growth funding there's talks about potentially making me a senior analyst by the end of the year. I'm already training an intern and managing clients on my own.
It's an attractive offer with a salary and bonus increase however, with the lack of organizational management I feel less confident and almost as if we are letting down our clients. Some of which I truly believe in.
I am extremely lucky to be in this position as I'm still doing my degree, they have given me an opportunity to really grow and prove my worth.
I just don't know what to do, in terms of my future prospects. By applying for a lower position job means I would have to start over again but I'll be at a bigger firm or stay with my current firm and see where it goes. Anyone been in a similar position, if so do you have any advice?
