Is the junior year internship typically where you end up working for IB or is it possible to get FT offers where you didn’t intern junior year?

I see most people ending up where they worked junior year, is it a lot harder to get ft roles at a place you didn’t intern for even if you have good experience?

It’s possible to get offer at a firm at which you did not intern. However, it is harder, especially when banks are not hiring substantially.

Full-time recruitment exists, and if it is your best option, pursue it.

It does happen and there are formal and informal processes for full-time recruitment. I tried recruiting for full-time and got interviews but no offers, but I also wasn't especially motivated because I already had my return offer and liked my bank. Last recruiting cycle many banks didn't have processes or were very selective (which makes sense considering the state of the industry rn). I would expect it will be similarly difficult after this upcoming summer.
