Is this happening to anybody else?

I'm currently a junior at a target school and, like many others, have been applying for investment banking SA positions through OCR. I've been noticing that, although I have had some pretty strong IB internships thus far, I'm getting interview offers for areas like S&T, equity research, etc.. While I am extremely thankful for these interview opportunities, I am confused as to why I'm not getting interviews for IB, which is what I'm truly aiming for, and which is what my resume speaks loud and clear about. Is there something that I'm missing here, or does HR sometimes mismatch candidates with the relevant fields? Any insight appreciated.

struggling with the same thing. idk why but i got a decent amount of S&T interviews but not much luck for IB. have gotten more PE interviews than IB as well.

the kids i know who landed IB stuff all did boutique work last summer so maybe they're looking for more experience? things are getting way more competitive as well, so many international students who seem way more driven than me haha.

Doesnt this also put you at a disadvantage when the interviewer asks "Why S&T?", fully knowing that you originally applied to IBD. No matter what you say it sounds like a trap, unless they cant see what you originally applied to.
