Is this salary reasonable for an internship?
Hi, I got an offer for from a prestigous boutique for an internship in one of their regional offices in continental Europe. Now I saw that the pay that they stated in the contract comes down to around 530 euro/month after taxes. This seems rather low to me, as I would incur quite some expenses from living in the city where I do the intern (it's not cheap). Would you say that this amount is reasonable and/or market conform?
Just be happy it's not 0
Are you trolling? Consider anything greater than 0 generous.
Totally agree with the posts above. Also, you'll find that it's the cheapness of your labor that encourages a firm to keep you around for the long-term. They aren't going to bother getting rid of you and finding/forcing somebody else to do the grunt work, when they can have you do it for next to nothing (at least in I-banking terms) and they can can have the piece of mind that it's getting done correctly. If this place is as prestigious as you say, there probably are a lot of people that would have been willing to work there for free.
one day i'll have a paid internship ...
I agree with the posters above, but isn't it normal for a summer analyst to earn proportionally as much as a ft analyst?
Which country are you talking about? If it's France or Germany, you're getting f'd. Top boutiques usually pay c. 2Ke + end of internship bonus of between 1 and 2 month salary
No it's not a reasonable salary since it means you'll be making about €1,25 an hour but wtf are you gonna do about it? You're still in college, your bargaining power is literally zero so just take it.
