It was bad enough when I was competing against other laid off first years. Now I'm getting rejection calls and emails (3 boutiques so far) telling me that technically I'm sound but the people they are bringing in for their second & final rounds are 2nd year analysts and have better experience.
now it looks like I won't even be getting final rounds like I did during the summer.
what the fuck?
what you expect! put your self in their shoes. Hire more experience at a discount rate or you. we just saw the collapse of two giants, and etc... just try to comprehend the massive number of talents out there who would work for work, with no bonus!
You're pretty screwed. I guess the only thing to do now is to keep trying.
Myself, I hope that the markets rebound in four to five years.
the best person will get the job.....especially at a boutique where fit really matters. a year experience is definitely a plus, but BB first years who got laid off may not actually have that much solid experience apart from comps and PPT. i've seen modelling test results and some of them don't know how to build a proper model.
