Nope, you go get a generalist offer, you have a generalist summer experience and then you get placed in groups at the end when you get FT offer.
If you want healthcare then apply to the generalist position and pref healthcare during the summer, hoping that you impress them.
Do you work there? Any tips for getting into the group you want? Does the team just select which interns they like best?

I think the fact that you get a whole summer before placement works better for you if you don't have a strong network. I suggest that you pref working on deals in healthcare. once you get placed on a deal or two, work to make the life of the analyst easier and just do your job to the best of your ability while getting along with ur teams pretty well. Then I think they ask you to rate your preferences and ask the groups who they liked working with. As long as you aren't weird, got along well, and did your job with accuracy you'll have a good shot. I'll say that Healthcare was/has been the most competitive coverage group to get into at Jefferies.
Any idea if this is the same for summer associates?
