JPM London Groups

Hi all,

Luckily secured a FT analyst position at JPM London and wanted to get some colour on different groups (in terms of culture, deal flow, exit opps etc) and the process.

Doubtful that I’ll have the full range of options to pick from and was told they’d look for a team who wants a French speaker (any ideas where that may direct me?).

Would really appreciate any insights or advice from those familiar with the London office or the process.

Thanks!!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know about JPM London groups:

  1. Culture: The culture at JPM London is generally regarded as strong, with initiatives like the "protected weekend" policy and a focus on work-life balance for juniors. Senior staff have become more conscious of junior well-being, and poor-performing MDs have been addressed in recent years. Teams are often closely knit, with regular social events like drinks and dinners.

  2. Deal Flow: JPM London is known for excellent deal flow, which is reflected in the expansion of analyst classes in recent years. The platform, scale, and brand name make it one of the most desirable places to start as an analyst.

  3. Exit Opportunities: Exit opps are strong, with many analysts lateraling internally within JPM to other divisions like IB coverage or equity/credit research. Buyside opportunities are also available, particularly in credit-focused roles like distressed debt shops. M7 business school placement is another common route.

  4. French Speaker Placement: If you're a French speaker, you may be directed toward teams with a focus on French clients or markets. This could include coverage groups with a strong presence in France or teams working on cross-border deals involving French-speaking regions.

  5. Team Selection Process: While you may not have the full range of options to choose from, JPM typically tries to match analysts with teams that align with their skills and language abilities. It's worth expressing your preferences and strengths during the placement process.

If you're looking for more specific insights, reaching out to current or former analysts in the London office could provide additional clarity. Good luck with your new role!

AC was second half of Nov, offer was a week after that (late Nov/early Dec)

Did you already have a FT elsewhere that was good? I saw some FT postings but wasn't sure if it was 2025 or not.
