JPM Requiring Everyone Return to Office--Trouble Ahead

This is an accident waiting to happen and banks will be liable. People head back to work and get sick, they will never have to work again.

Stuck in a closed office environment and working next to others in a bullpen. So nice I have an office.

Meeting with clients? Nope

Juniors looking at models over my shoulders? Not happening

Better working environment for juniors?  NOT

Sitting indoors in a conference room with others? Nope

People less productive in the office? Correct

Feel real comfortable looking at other idiots wearing masks. Who is the biggest loser?

Real macho tough guys in the office.

Let's get our juniors back in to town and lock down a lease so they are stuck in NYC if things get bad. Pay rent for a year for a shoebox in the city while we work from the Hamptons.

JPM has handled this so horribly it is an absolute joke. Think we are the leaders for the economy. Not kidding!!!!

HR lawyers, get your cards ready. You are about to have a lot of business.

It is truly being handled terribly, I work there and we are all stunned that this is mandatory and starting so soon. Leadership says they might roll it back once we start, but its just messed up to make kids from Florida, Colorado, etc. move to NYC just to be there every other week and then run the risk that mgt says, alright thats enough everyone back home, like what the actual fuck

Everyone knows their BS strategy which makes things worse. People get sick and they will be even more liable as a result. I would expect this from some sleazy firms, but not JPM. Very sad

When does this go into effect? I work at a competitor also in NYC and I expect once one bank brings people back the rest will follow suit

I guess this is a hot take...but I'm surprised by the reaction to this. We have enough data by now to see the risks for younger people. Why do people feel comfortable eating at a bar, drinking with different groups of people at houses, but not going into an office setting?

Had some buddies with the #stayhomestaysafe hashtag go to protests without masks and play beer pong with their friends, but then scoff at 'southerners' going to the beach or back to school.

Am I missing something or are the mental gymnastics needed to feel "safe" doing some activities but not others beyond my ability?

You'll get MS for this, because anyone else on this site that has made this observation has. The only legitimacy I give to the counterclaim is that it would actually be really shitty for people to come back and sign leases, and, God forbid, this surges again in November followed by a reversion to WFH. In which case, people should rightly be bullshit.

But, at the end of the day, a lot of America has been deceived into thinking this is a truly deadly disease (facts don't have feelings, please look at numbers) and they should be angry at people like Cuomo or de Blasio for following the bandwagon, not their bank.

This is crazy to me. Going to be very difficult for the people who need to move across the country on incredibly short notice. I lived right outside of NYC and it took me 2 weeks to find and close on an apartment before.
