Jumping from IB SA to buyside FT?
Hi all,
I just recently transferred from a non/semi target to a target. I placed at a top group in a mid-tier bb (Barc/BofA/Citi) but considering my lateral to a different school, I’m tempted to explore options for FT buyside roles. I recognize that PE may also slow FT hiring as markets and financing face complications, making a transition more difficult.
For those who have done it and those who are contemplating it, what considerations should be made when jumping from IB to PE after a SA stint?
As an additional note, I really like a lot of things about the group I’ll be with, so for me to leave, the PE analyst program would need to be well established with a path to associate.
