Keeping a phone-based relationship going

I was wondering if anyone had any advice in terms of keeping a good relationship with a banker while only communicating on the phone?

I've reached out to a few guys at a BB and EB, but since they are in NY, it is impossible for me to meet up with them for coffee or something. How do you continue to foster this relationship? I get stuck on what to do after the first call.
