KKR/TPG/BX Internship Opportunity
This is a throwaway account, and I have a quick question.
I'm a rising junior at a semi target in Cal. The goal is IBD SA next summer.
Through a contact I have, I may be able to land an internship for the fall at KKR/TPG/BX in a regional office. I know it'd be a great brand name to have on the resume, but the internship would be accounting/operations, no finance. Also, I already have 2 solid internships in finance so I don't think this internship is that important.
Should I take this internship? Does the brand name alone compensate for the fact that it's not a finance internship?

If this could be an internship during the school year, you may be able to create an opportunity to get a FT position in the future.
Too me, as a summer internship, it seems like too much of a long shot to give up a decent FO position just to have the name on your resume.
Also might depend on who you know that got you the position and whether they could help you leverage that into a FO role later on.

If you can't get anything better. If you have a FO internship with a Bulge Bracket, take the FO one instead. The only way I would take the PE is if you think you're in a position to network your way into a FT with the PE.
is this during the school year? if so, do it... try to network and learn. exposure/rubbing elbows with those guys can really lead to awesome things in the future.
Don't waste your time. What kind of Junior @ semi-target needs KKR/TPG/BX on his resume anyways?
Of course you should do it. Bust your ass there too. Great networking opportunity.
I think the only reason to do it is if you can squeeze it in during the school year. IMO doing BO, regardless of where, is still BO and will not help you land in IBD. Don't consider doing this as your summer internship. Also your opportunities to network with the FO guys will be minimal at best
