LA boutique investment banking scene
It seems like the BBs/EBs have relatively small analyst class sizes, so I was wondering if someone could give the lay of the land in terms of the boutiques as well.
A few that have come up in my research are:
Focalpoint Partners
Intrepid
Imperial Capital
Duff & Phelps
Sage Group
Lincoln
Would appreciate if anyone had any information!
I did some work with Sage over the summer. They had a Wharton kid as an intern and seemed like they ran relatively lean deal teams (it was just MD/Associate/Analyst/Intern). They’re super specialized (D2C e-commerce retail).
At one of the above (hint: Naruto goes to Mt. Myoboku to learn ___ mode).
Pay is more or less street 100 base, 15 signing. Smart people (almost all recruiting comes from targets), good dealflow. Happy to answer questions, but understand want anonymity and very small shops make difficult.
Do you any insight into deal flow across sector?
From my understanding, imperial has strong security/industrials duff is mostly aero intrepid is consumer and focalpoint is healthcare. Imperial seems the biggest by employees, but they also split into equity research and s&t so hard to get a grasp on size of the IB division itself
Thanks!
