Unless it’s written in a contract that you’ll become or are coming in as an Associate, nothing is guaranteed. Also, just generally speaking, most firms will argue that it’s difficult to properly assess someone within 6 months to determine a promotion. They will usually argue they need at least a year for proper assessment (and for you to get to know and be liked by the senior bankers). Seen a lateral get the promote in under a year before, but don’t know how common this is. Always better to just come in on the new title than to work towards the promise of one.

Probably a bit tough unless you were an exceptional candidate or they really need people. Generally for people to get the title bump, it’s usually cause they already did part of their third year of either Analyst 3 or Associate 3 and then get the promote to Assoc and VP, respectively.

You can certainly try seeing if early promotion is possible, and get a sense of how they’ll gauge for that. But I think if you’re going in as a senior analyst, then you’ll likely need to go through the full year cycle to see the promote (per “difficulty” of properly assessing you and for Sr bankers to get to know, like and trust you).
