Lateral from Real Estate Investment Management to REIB
Post-MBA with 2.5 year real estate private equity/investment management experience. My firm didn't survive the credit crisis. While at my firm we spent 1 yr in crisis mode restructuring and working out most of the fund's mortgage investments. I am not interested in the Asset Management aspect of IM or PERE. My goal is to be solely transaction focused so I am looking to lateral to REIB. Since I'm not interested in IM or PE I'm not obsessed with exit opportunities post IB. I'll be a career banker. I've received push back for not having generalist corp fin experience and why not IB after b-school. Anyone actually done it? Any helpful suggestions on best positioning myself with the IB folks?
