Lateral into Leveraged Finance?

Is it essentially the same as a lateral to IBD? Are you able to apply specifically for leveraged finance?

For context, I don't have prior IBD experience but do have some buy-side experience. Moving against the current here by starting off where IBD people typically want to end up and I'm not sure whether that'll work against me or be an advantage.

Appreciate any insights the community has.

Some banks have Lev Fin in the IBD, some have it in Capital Markets (GCM). It depends on the bank due to that, for example Lev Fin at MS is in GCM but at JPM it is in IBD. Lev Fin at MS is not the same as IBD but it is at JPM
