Lateral recruiting
Anyone have any tips or general advice for lateral IB recruiting. Currently ~7 months into my first year but feeling unsatisfied with the work, learning progress, and culture. Anything helps, thanks!

Have you started networking?
When I lateraled in banking I surprisingly got good traction from applying to roles on bank career pages / linkedin. Though ultimately the role I got was due to a connection which allowed me to fast track the lateral process.
I’d suggest really brushing up on technicals and your deals as they will be very important in these interviews. If you have contacts at the banks you’re targeting from your undergrad days, try to reach back out.
Did you lateral within the first year? Im worried about exposure to deals so wang to get out asap
Just recently lateraled from BB to EB. Quite a big jump and took time. 1 is to start reaching out to a few groups, ask around with your friends who is hiring and talk a bit and send in a resume. Don't need too much networking as it won't get you the job and they are generally pretty open to interviewing. 2. Start practicing your technicals and deal talk. Know what you've worked on and be prepared for banking technicals like walking through merger model, LBO etc. Kinda like undergrad recruiting but you should be more prepped. A good site that people use for that is marginofalpha. 3. Please just vibe with the team. The team has got to feel that you will get a long. Know your behaviorals well and have a good reason for lateraling
